Sophia Fernandez was born and raised in Brandon, Florida. She trained in all styles as a member of the 5th Dimension Dance Center competition and travel team, where she earned recognition as an Intrigue Dance Convention True Performer, a Streetz Dance Convention Company member, and a Heat Dance Convention Assistant.
Her passion for improvisation and choreography led to success in improv competitions and earned her the “Imagination Winner” award at Intrigue Dance Convention’s choreography competition.
Sophia graduated from Howard W. Blake High School’s Dance Department with a Master Certification in Dance. During her time there, she studied ballet, modern, and choreography to further develop her technique while training under renowned instructors including Layla Amis, Daniel Lewis, John Lehrer, and BodyTraffic. In her senior year, she debuted her collaborative work, The Fracturing, at the National High School Dance Festival at Point Park University.
Throughout her time at Blake, Sophia became ABT Certified and served as Vice President of the National Dance Honor Society. She has performed with Atlas Modern Ballet Company and continues to teach and choreograph throughout the Tampa Bay area while attending the University of South Florida.
